Frequently Asked Questions
Are you accepting custom orders / Can you make me ______? / How do I get on your custom list?
I am not currently accepting custom orders. My custom order books typically open up with the release of each of my collections - slots are available by placing a deposit through my website. I do not have a waitlist. As much as I love making special, one of a kind pieces for my clients, I am a one-woman business and I simply can't accommodate everyone's requests. I try to make the custom order process as fair as possible to give everyone a chance to get a spot. Take a look at my Custom Orders page for more information about how to get on the list and what the process is like.
Where can I buy your jewelry?
Most of my jewelry is only available through my website, or occasionally on my Instagram, @meg_girard. I currently have one brick-and-mortar stockist, Good Times Revival in Camarillo, CA. Check them out for some vintage goods and jewelry if you're around Southern California!
Do you have any jewelry currently available?
If I don't have anything listed on my website, I don't have anything available. I'm always hard at work on new pieces, so keep checking on my Instagram for updates!
I tried to buy a piece from your collection and it sold out as I was checking out!
The e-commerce platform I use does not reserve listings while they are in the cart and it sells to the fastest person to check out. I can take custom orders to recreate past pieces.
If you missed out on buying a piece from my collections, I have a made-to-order section up most of the year. This is a great opportunity to ensure getting a piece from me!
What is Made-to-Order?
Most of the year, I have a section for made-to-order pieces listed on my website. These are pieces for sale that I make as they are ordered, and production time typically takes between 2-3 weeks.
Is this piece you posted on Instagram available for purchase?
Unless it is stated in the post that it is for sale or will be included in my next collection, no.
Can you hold a piece for me / Can I buy a piece before your collection release?
No, I do not accept holds on any pieces I preview on Instagram before my collection is released.
Do you teach metalsmithing classes/workshops?
No, I don't have any plans to teach metalsmithing classes or workshops.
Can you give me advice on how to get started in metalsmithing?
I really appreciate the interest, but the best advice I can give is working hard through trial and error. I took one metalsmithing class, invested in a bench, and then continued to study, learn, and work as much as I could.
All my jewelry is handmade with care from .925 sterling silver and polished to a beautiful shine. I make each of my pieces to last a lifetime, but care should be taken to prevent damage and tarnish on your jewelry.
To maintain the quality and longevity of your jewelry, avoid wearing it during bathing, swimming, or other tasks that could damage the stone or the silver. Pieces should be stored in individual, airtight bags to prevent oxidation.
To clean your jewelry, clean with mild, soapy water and polish with a soft jewelry polishing cloth (available at most jewelry counters or online through retailers such as Amazon). Do not submerge in cleaning chemicals, as they can be damaging to the stones and weaken the silver.
All orders are shipped through USPS First Class or Priority. If you have specific shipping requests, please contact me.
Returns are accepted on a case-by-case basis. If you feel you need to return a piece for some reason, please contact me. I do not accept returns on damaged pieces. Return shipping is the buyers' responsibility.
If, for some reason, a piece purchased from me needs repair or a stone replaced, I will do my best to work with you to bring your piece back to life. Some repairs I cannot accommodate, such as sizing down rings. Feel free to contact me and we will get your jewelry new again!
I typically don't do repairs on pieces not made by me. For repair or stone replacement inquiries, contact @royal_lapidary through Instagram direct message.
I do not offer layaway on ready-to-ship or made-to-order pieces. The only situation in which I allow partial payment is on custom orders, where a client pays a deposit and then completes payment once the piece is finished.
